The Federal Government has evacuated 315 stranded Nigerians from the United Kingdom. This information was made known by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission on Sunday. It stated that the evacuated persons would arrive in Nigeria about 5pm on Sunday.
It made this information via Twitter. The tweet read, “Air Peace flight conveying another batch of 315 Nigerians departs Heathrow Airport, London today.
“The flight is expected to depart at about 10:30 am and is expected to arrive in Nigeria at about 5 pm local time today Sunday 28th, June 2020.”
After their arrival in Nigeria, they are expected to proceed on a 14-day self-isolation as mandated by the Nigerian authorities.
The isolation is mandatory in order to check out for COVID-19 symptoms. Various precautionary measures are being put in place to curb the spread of the virus. Nigeria presently has about 24,000 confirmed cases. Hence, the government is doing everything in its power to contain the disease.
Likewise, citizens have been advised to maintain social distancing, regular washing of hands, and wearing of face masks. This is to help to prevent the virus from spreading. It is paramount to note that it the collective responsibility of the citizens to ensure that the spread of the virus is minimal.
