The late former governor of Oyo state, Chief Abiola Ajimobi has been laid to rest. He was buried at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Abiola Ajimobi was buried today in a private ceremony inside his Alaafin Avenue home at Oluyole Estate in Ibadan. Prayers were offered for the repose of his soul at the Ajimobi Central Mosque in Oke-Ado. Afterwards, the final funeral rites were performed.
Reportedly, the former lawmaker died of complications from COVID-19 on June 25, at a private hospital in Lagos. He is survived by his wife Florence and five children.
However, tributes have poured in from notable personalities across the country for the late elder statesman. President Muhammadu Buhari has eulogized the former governor of Oyo state.
President Buhari condoled with the government and people of Oyo State over the passing of their former governor. In addition, he noted that Ajimobi’s contributions to the development of the state and nation will always be remembered.
The President commiserated with the family of Ajimobi who served the country as a Senator in 2003. Thereafter, he won the governorship election in 2011. Ajimobi remained steadfast and consistent in his progressive views, and working assiduously for the creation of the All Progressives Congress.
In addition, Buhari believes he left the world at a crucial moment when the party and the country needed his counsels. Moreso, his absence will be sorely felt by all associates, particularly in the APC.
President Buhari prayed that the Almighty God will comfort the family of the former governor, and grant him a peaceful rest.
